Cabinet IQ of Lees Summit

Kitchen Consultant

Lee's Summit, MissouriFull-time
About the Job
We just opened a brand-new 3,200 square foot kitchen showroom in Lee's Summit, and we're looking for someone who can help make the experience exceptional from the moment a customer walks through the door.

Cabinet IQ designs and installs kitchens, cabinetry and countertops, along with any other cabinet related project such as bars, built-ins, mudrooms, laundry rooms, and vanities. Most of our customers are homeowners making one of the largest investments they'll make in their home. They arrive excited, sometimes a little overwhelmed, and often unsure where to even begin.

We're intentionally building this as a broad role. You'll get exposure to the customer experience from the first showroom conversation through design, measurements, project preparation and installation, rather than learning just one piece of the business.

Your job is to help make that first experience a great one.

What you'll do:
  • You'll greet customers, learn what they're hoping to accomplish and walk the showroom with them. You'll explain how the remodeling process works, help them understand their options and answer questions about cabinetry, countertops, materials, project scope and budget.
  • You'll assist with incoming customer inquiries, follow up with prospective customers, keep our CRM accurate and make sure opportunities don't get lost along the way. You'll also help keep the showroom sharp, organized and accurate, from samples and materials to pricing and displays.
  • As you learn the business, the role grows. You'll begin booking design consultations and processing design retainers, participating in site measurements and remeasurements, assisting with selections and becoming more involved throughout the customer journey.
  • You'll work closely with our Lead Designer and gain hands-on exposure to measurements, design, project preparation, customer follow-up, deliveries, installations and the many details that take a kitchen from the first conversation through completion.
  • This isn't a position where you'll spend every day doing the same thing. Customer traffic and active projects drive the day. Sometimes that means spending most of the day in the showroom. Other days may include a site measure, project follow-up, helping solve an issue or attending a community or industry event.

Who this is for:
  • Someone who wants to understand the whole kitchen remodeling business, not someone looking for a chair at the front of a showroom.
  • You should be comfortable starting conversations with people you've never met, patient with customers who are still figuring out what they want and comfortable discussing budgets without turning the conversation into a high-pressure sales pitch.
  • Our showroom is designed to be an experience. A customer should leave feeling that their time with us was valuable whether they're ready to start a project today, six months from now or ultimately decide we're not the right fit.
  • We're looking for someone who is curious, professional, dependable and willing to learn. Someone who minds the details, follows through and takes ownership when something is theirs to handle.

What we're looking for:
  • 1–2 years of relevant kitchen, cabinetry, interior design, construction, home improvement or showroom experience preferred.
  • Relevant design education may substitute for professional experience.
  • Recent graduates with strong aptitude and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software and systems.
  • An eye for design and strong attention to detail.
  • Organized and dependable with consistent follow-through.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with the ability to travel locally to customer homes and project sites.
  • Willingness to perform reasonable physical activities associated with showroom and project-site work.
  • Occasional early Saturday coverage and evening community or industry events as needed.

What we offer:
  • Full-time salaried position.
  • PTO / paid holidays.
  • Training on professional kitchen design and business systems.
  • Hands-on exposure to the full kitchen remodeling process.
  • A brand-new Lee's Summit showroom and a growing local business where your contribution will be visible.
  • Opportunity to grow into expanded responsibilities in kitchen design/sales or project management based on your strengths, performance and the needs of the business.

At Cabinet IQ, our mission is to be the kitchen remodeling hero for proud homeowners. We believe in creating a positive impact, being a lifetime student, doing what is right rather than what is easy, minding the details and taking accountability for our actions and inactions.

If that sounds like the kind of business you want to help build, we'd like to meet you.
